Thousands of attendees at Pope Leo XIV's events in Gran Canaria will benefit from a special public transport reinforcement, with route changes and increased bus frequency.

The company Guaguas Municipales has announced a special public transport operation for Thursday, June 11, coinciding with the visit of Pope Leo XIV to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The main objective is to facilitate travel to the scheduled events and manage mobility amidst anticipated traffic and security restrictions.
The general director of Guaguas Municipales, Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, emphasized the importance of coordination with security systems for operational planning. "We have been preparing for a week, but we must coordinate with security systems to know where we can operate. Therefore, until now, we have not started releasing information," he stated.
Temporary closures will be implemented at the Teatro terminal. Lines 1, 10, 11, 12, and 17 will divert their stops to San Telmo (stop 3), while lines 8, 80, 82, 91, and X11 will stop at stop 496, also in San Telmo. Lines 7, 13, 54, and 70 will have their stop at Eufemiano Jurado; lines 32 and 33 at Carretera de Mata; line 2 at Ingeniero Bosch y Sintes; and lines 9 and 25 at a provisional stop on Muelle de Las Palmas street.
Additionally, Line 12 will divide its route while restrictions are in place on the GC-1 towards the capital, establishing connections between Hoya de la Plata and Juzgados, and other services will operate between San Telmo and the Puerto terminal.
For the main event at the Estadio Gran Canaria, service will be reinforced from 12:00 PM towards the stops on Pintor Felo Monzón avenue. Line 26 will have a frequency of 10 minutes, Line 91 will run every 5 minutes, and the Special Auditorium Line will depart every 20 minutes from the Auditorio intermodal parking.
Upon conclusion of the event, special return services will be available from Pintor Felo Monzón avenue. A Special Teatro Line (with the first stop at La Ballena), a Special Santa Catalina–Puerto Line (with the first stop at Mesa y López), and a direct Special Auditorio Line will be launched.
Guaguas Municipales warns that the rest of the network may experience occasional disruptions due to the extensive security measures. It recommends citizens plan their journeys in advance and consult updated information on the company's official channels.
