Authorities in the Canary Islands have announced a special security and organizational plan for the imminent visit of Pope Leo XIV. Traffic restrictions have been put in place on the islands of Gran Canaria and Tenerife to facilitate the scheduled events and ensure safety.
The papal visit, which is expected to generate significant attention, has led to the suspension of classes in Gran Canaria on June 11th and in Tenerife on the 12th, aiming to prevent mobility collapse on both islands. These measures are intended to ensure the smooth running of events and the comfort of attendees.
It has been confirmed that the popemobile, a Mercedes reinforced against potential terrorist attacks, will soon arrive in Gran Canaria. Furthermore, the turf of the Estadio de Gran Canaria has been inspected and will not be used during the visit, with a Vatican delegation having already approved the general preparations.
