The Local Police of Teguise arrested a man last Sunday, coinciding with the last day of the Sagrado Corazón de María festivities in Caleta de Famara. The individual attempted to evade a police checkpoint set up at the roundabout leading to Famara from Teguise, fleeing at high speed in a vehicle.
According to Ginés González, councilor for the Local Police of Teguise, the driver, who lacked a driving license, performed reckless maneuvers that endangered residents and pedestrians in the urban area. The pursuit extended along the road until, thanks to a police operation within the town, the vehicle was contained and the driver apprehended.
Following the arrest, it was confirmed that the car used was stolen and the driver did not possess a driving license. Furthermore, the man had a prior police record related to property crimes.
The coordinated operation concluded with the driver being arrested for alleged offenses against road safety, including reckless driving, driving without a license, and disobeying officers, in addition to theft or unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
