A delegation of over 80 Moroccan representatives is visiting Gran Canaria to strengthen economic and business links with the Canary Islands, continuing the commitment to Morocco's modernization.

The visit of a Moroccan delegation to Gran Canaria, comprising over 80 representatives from various sectors, aims to consolidate economic and business relations between the Canary Islands and Morocco. This meeting follows a previous trip by the Government of the Canary Islands to Agadir in January, where ten collaboration agreements and a memorandum of understanding were signed.
The ties between both regions extend beyond migration issues, covering areas such as water desalination, infrastructure construction, and research. The objective is to foster Morocco's development and modernization through investment and the expertise of Canarian companies.

The working sessions, which began on Monday, April 27, include bilateral and plenary meetings between the delegations. Additionally, shared economic interests related to sports are being explored, especially with the upcoming 2030 FIFA World Cup, which will have one of its venues at the Estadio de Gran Canaria.
During the visit, key topics such as tourism, leisure, fishing, agriculture, and technology will be addressed. B2B meetings have been scheduled between Canarian companies and representatives from the Moroccan region of Souss Massa to identify cooperation opportunities, foster business contacts, and explore joint projects in strategic sectors. Visits to the Canarian Institute of Technology (ITC), the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Port of Las Palmas, and the southern tourist area of Gran Canaria are also planned.
Morocco's regional modernization and development are a priority, with a significant investment of over 20 billion euros allocated for the next eight years. This plan seeks to foster regional development with a tangible impact on citizens' lives, improving access to basic services, creating jobs, and attracting investments.
