The Canary Islands are experiencing a period of high temperatures that could lead to the first heatwave of the summer, with records reaching values close to 39 ºC.

The State Meteorological Agency has recorded significant thermal values across different parts of the islands. In Gran Canaria, the interior of the island experienced a particularly warm night, with 30.8 degrees recorded in Tejeda during the early hours of Sunday.
The phenomenon is not limited to a single island. On the island of El Hierro, specifically in the La Dehesa area within the municipality of El Pinar, thermometers reached 28.9 degrees early in the morning, highlighting the spread of high temperatures across the region.
Meteorological authorities continue to monitor the climate evolution as the heat is expected to persist over the coming days, following a start to the month marked by a widespread thermal rise affecting both coastal and mid-altitude areas.
