The National Police have arrested five individuals following a mass brawl that took place in the early hours of June 24 in a nightlife area of the Gran Canarian capital. The altercation, which involved about twenty people, many under the influence of alcohol and displaying high aggression, saw the use of bladed weapons and a knuckle duster.
As a result of the fight, several people sustained serious injuries, including a manager of a nightlife establishment. One of the involved individuals lost several teeth, according to police sources on Friday. Officers arriving at the scene encountered a scene of great violence, with numerous individuals injured by bladed weapons and contusions.
After restoring order and establishing a security perimeter, officers dispersed the crowd, some of whom threw objects at the police personnel. Hours later, several of the participants went to a hospital to receive treatment for their injuries. A new altercation then broke out between eight and ten people, requiring a second police intervention where a large machete was seized.
Subsequent investigations, based on testimonies and information analysis, led to the identification of the main participants. On June 25, five individuals were arrested as alleged perpetrators of a crime of disorderly conduct and handed over to the competent judicial authority. Police operations remain open to determine the possible involvement of other individuals.
