The excitement of the 2026 World Cup reaches Gran Canaria with the first semifinal match between Spain and France. Various town councils on the island have organized meeting points for citizens to follow the game together, enhancing the experience with gastronomic offers and live music.
The match will kick off at 8:00 PM, but the festive atmosphere will begin earlier in some locations. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Plaza del Pilar in the Guanarteme neighborhood will be the chosen venue by the City Council, repeating an initiative that was well-received during the quarter-finals. Mayor Carolina Darias confirmed the installation of a giant screen.
In Telde, Plaza de San Gregorio will become the hub for football fans. The City Council will install a giant screen and open the plaza from 6:30 PM for the pre-match festivities. This initiative, promoted by the Department of Festivals and Fairs, follows the success of the quarter-final broadcast at Parque Franchy Roca.
Gáldar will offer the opportunity to watch the match at the Recinto Cultural La Quinta, a venue typically used for musical events. Meanwhile, Mogán will provide two viewing areas: the Plaza del Mercadillo (also known as Plaza Negra) and Calle José Manuel Santana, in the music bar area, both starting at 8:00 PM.
In the island's midlands, San Mateo will repeat the experience at the Plaza de la Solidaridad, tripling the chair capacity after the positive reception of the match against Belgium. From 7:00 PM, there will be food trucks and an energetic musical atmosphere. Valsequillo will also install a giant screen in the Plaza de la Barrera, organized by the Area of Culture, Youth, Festivals, and Sports.
Additionally, the shopping centers Las Arenas and Los Alisios in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will again feature giant screens for the semifinal, as they did for previous Spanish team matches.
