Gran Canaria Swim Week, an event specializing in swimwear and resortwear, has intensified its internationalization strategy through meetings with representatives from prominent European sector organizations and platforms. The goal is to broaden its collaboration network and generate new business opportunities for attending firms.
This initiative, driven by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria, involved Councilor Minerva Alonso, who led the agenda of meetings. The primary objective is to reinforce the runway's presence in global professional fashion industry circuits.
The strategy aims to position Gran Canaria Swim Week as a benchmark platform for swimwear in Europe. To achieve this, maintaining stable relationships with key entities in sector promotion, designer-company connections, and opening up to international markets is prioritized. Minerva Alonso emphasized that the event's growth is based on lasting alliances with organizations that share a vision of fashion as an economic driver and a tool for external projection.
During the institutional agenda, meetings were held with executives from organizations such as the German Fashion Council (represented by Scott Lipinski), the British Fashion Council (with Audrey Khew), Bucharest Fashion Week (with Mario Antico), and White Milano (with Brenda Bellei). Also participating were Juan Duyos and Pepa Bueno, president and director of the Association of Creators of Fashion of Spain (ACME), respectively, along with Asier Labarga, director of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid.
Gran Canaria Swim Week maintains established collaborations with entities like ACME, White Milano, and the German Fashion Council, considered crucial for the event's growth and international presence. These partnerships aim to position the runway as a meeting point for designers, buyers, and industry professionals.
As a novelty for the 2026 edition, exploratory contacts have been initiated with representatives from the United Kingdom and Romania, markets deemed strategic. The objective is to identify future collaboration lines and increase the presence of Canarian brands in these countries, with the participation of figures like Romanian entrepreneur and content creator Alina Ceușan.
The collaboration with White Milano will continue, awarding one of the official prizes: the winning firm's participation in White Resort Milano in September 2026, a key fair for resort wear and prêt-à-porter fashion. The presence of Alina Ceușan, with nearly a million social media followers, aims to boost international visibility and relationships with the Romanian market.
Internationalization is a fundamental pillar for Gran Canaria Swim Week, which aspires to be a space for generating business opportunities and professional contacts. Collaboration with European institutions facilitates access for collections to buyers and specialized media, strengthening the island's fashion business fabric.
With this new round of institutional meetings, Gran Canaria Swim Week reaffirms its commitment to growing as a leading European platform for swimwear and resortwear, combining existing alliances with the exploration of new markets to increase its global reach.
