The Government of the Canary Islands has scheduled a level 2 forest fire drill in a ravine in Moya, Gran Canaria, on April 29, to evaluate the activation of the Infoca Plan protocols.

This three-day exercise aims to test the response capability to a hypothetical fire reaching level 2, at which point management responsibilities transfer from the island councils to the Autonomous Community. The Ministry of Territorial Policy has announced that the General Directorate of Emergencies, responsible for the organization, will collaborate with the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and the Moya City Council.
The main drill will take place on Wednesday, April 29, starting at 09:30, with an initial ignition point in a ravine in the El Pagador area of the Moya municipality. In addition to the simulation, various training activities will be held between April 27 and 29, with the goal of strengthening both citizen prevention and cooperation among public administrations in emergency situations.

The best tool against forest fires is an informed and prepared population. We want residents to know how to act, how to prevent risks, and how to collaborate with emergency services, because protecting the territory is a shared responsibility that starts in every home.

The schedule of complementary activities will begin on the afternoon of Monday, April 27, at the Casa de la Cultura de Moya with self-protection talks. On Tuesday, April 28, starting at 08:30, an exhibition of regional, island, local, and state emergency resources will be set up in El Pico Lomito Park. This exhibition will be open for guided tours for students of different educational levels in the municipality, from primary to secondary. On Wednesday, April 29, the remaining students will participate in forest fire prevention and action workshops.
