The exhibition center in Agüimes became the epicenter of local gastronomy during the XIII edition of Gran Canaria Me Gusta. This annual event celebrates local produce and the talent of farmers, ranchers, fishermen, chefs, and pastry chefs who dedicate their lives to preserving the flavor of Gran Canaria.
The fair, promoted by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and organized by companies such as Gastronomic Project, has established itself as an unmissable event for thousands of people, attracting a diverse audience interested in learning about the island's culinary identity.
One of the highlights was the live cooking demonstration, where a renowned master pastry chef, accompanied by a journalist and a gastronomy writer, prepared a semi-cured cheese tart. The recipe, which used cheese from Quesería Guedes, captivated attendees with its simplicity and by enhancing the authentic flavor of the local product.
“"If you want to learn, first watch how it's done."
The tart, made with 600 grams of semi-cured cheese from Quesería Guedes, 50 grams of corn flour (gluten-free), 200 grams of sugar, one liter of cream, and 12 eggs, was presented as a tribute to artisanal craftsmanship and the gastronomic richness of the island. The live demonstration allowed the public to appreciate the creation process of this dessert, which became a symbol of the event.
Events like Gran Canaria Me Gusta demonstrate that the promotion of the island can be achieved through direct interaction with its products and creators, offering an authentic experience that highlights local identity and talent.
