The surveillance and forest fire extinguishing staff of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria has once again protested to demand the application of labor rights stipulated in the Forest Firefighters Law, including salary supplements and early retirement.

Workers from the Forest Fire Operational Unit (UOFF) gathered this Friday in front of the Casa Palacio, the headquarters of the Cabildo, to voice their demands. Among the main claims are the receipt of salary supplements for morbidity, toxicity, danger, and arduousness, which they currently do not receive.
In addition to salary improvements, the group requests the implementation of early retirement under certain seniority conditions and the creation of specific occupational risk prevention plans tailored to the particularities of their duties.
One day before the mobilization, UOFF members received an internal communication from the Department of Environment. This note reminded them of the prohibition of using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during public demonstrations.
