The Insular-Materno Infantil University Hospital Complex in Gran Canaria held a training day on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on October 16th, World Cardiac Arrest Day, attended by over 500 participants, including schoolchildren and adults.

The event, organized to mark World Cardiac Arrest Day, took place at the facility affiliated with the Canary Islands Government's Health Department and featured theoretical and practical workshops. Attendees learned essential techniques for responding to cardiac emergencies.
The training was delivered by nurses from the hospital's Permanent Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training Room, with the collaboration of resident nurses and nursing students. Organizers emphasized the importance of rapid action and correct learning of basic resuscitation techniques to save lives.
During the sessions, simulations were conducted to assess patients, activate the Emergency Services, and initiate chest compressions. Participants learned fundamental emergency response procedures, understanding that cardiopulmonary resuscitation involves applying rhythmic pressure to the chest to maintain oxygen flow to vital organs.
The Insular-Materno Infantil University Hospital Complex has had a Permanent Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training Room since 2003, dedicated to the ongoing training of healthcare professionals and the general public in these vital techniques.
