The beach of Pozo Izquierdo, in Gran Canaria, kicked off the 38th edition of the Gran Canaria Gloria Windsurf World Cup this Saturday, featuring over 120 competitors.

The competition, part of the PWA wave circuit and the World Wave Tour, will bring together specialists from three continents over the next nine days. The opening day served as a meeting point for athletes, who took the traditional group photo alongside representatives from the Santa Lucía de Tirajana City Council.
Although wind conditions limited the start of the sporting events, the atmosphere on the Gran Canaria coast remained high. Participants used the day to make technical adjustments and prepare for the upcoming challenges between local rising stars and international champions.
The event is endorsed by the Spanish Royal Sailing Federation, with institutional support from the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, and the local council, alongside various private sector partners.
