The Cabildo de La Gomera has established education as a central pillar of its governance, allocating over 3.2 million euros to student support programs and launching the innovative Campus La Gomera to provide continuous training across the island.

Education is positioned as a key element for the future of La Gomera, a conviction forged through experience and the responsibility of local administrations. This perspective has led the Cabildo to prioritize training as one of the essential pillars of its public action.
In this regard, the island institution has allocated an investment exceeding 3.2 million euros this year to support students. This budget item covers various aids, including scholarships, transport subsidies, support for textbook acquisition, and strategic collaborations with public universities. The main objective of this investment is to create opportunities for the young people of La Gomera.

"We know that studying off the island still entails an added effort for many families. That is why we have strengthened aid and incorporated new measures, such as the rental bonus, which helps cover some of those costs that often make the difference between being able to study or not."

Scholarship policies are a clear reflection of this commitment. Aware of the challenge that studying off the island poses for many families, existing aid has been strengthened, and new initiatives, such as the rental bonus, have been implemented. This bonus aims to mitigate housing-related expenses, thus facilitating access to higher education. More than 550 students have already benefited from the first phase of this call, and a second phase is expected in the coming weeks.
In addition to supporting external training, the Cabildo promotes educational offerings within the island. In this context, the Campus La Gomera has emerged, a pioneering initiative that guarantees a stable and continuous training program throughout the year. This campus represents an evolution from sporadic summer courses, offering a broader and more accessible proposal with courses, workshops, and activities distributed across the island's six municipalities, open to all citizens.
Public universities are seen as a fundamental tool for equality and progress. Initiatives like the Campus La Gomera demonstrate that it is possible to advance in this direction, even in non-capital territories. In an environment of constant change, education is conceived as a continuous process, and La Gomera is committed to not being left behind, ensuring that education remains an open door for everyone.
