The Maritime Authority in La Gomera, in collaboration with the Insular Directorate of the General State Administration, has implemented improvements to facilitate services and procedures for maritime professionals.

Following consultations held throughout 2026 with professionals from the maritime sector, new collaboration channels have been established between the Maritime Authority and the Insular Directorate of the General State Administration in La Gomera. These enhancements aim to improve citizen access to the Maritime Authority's services and responsibilities, addressing the sector's expressed needs.
One of the key developments is the introduction of an annual schedule for the Maritime District's opening hours. This initiative will facilitate in-person assistance, allowing interested parties to plan their visits in advance. An official will be available several times a year at the facilities in the port of San Sebastián de La Gomera to provide this support.
The second area of improvement focuses on online procedures, particularly those managed through the electronic portal of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, handled by the Directorate General of the Merchant Navy. To streamline these processes, which cover maritime activities (excluding fishing and the management of maritime-terrestrial public domain), in-person training will be provided. This training will cover electronic identification and signatures, ministry electronic portals, and general online procedures. Officials from the Insular Directorate and the Maritime Authority will participate in this training.
