The Cabildo de La Gomera has formalized its adherence to the GomeraArcoíris network, a key initiative for the protection, visibility, and support of LGBTIQA+ individuals on the island.

This proposal, driven by the Pluma Association in collaboration with the island's public institutions, received unanimous support during the Plenary Session of the Island Corporation. This consensus highlights the institutional commitment to defending human rights, equality, and building a more just, inclusive, and discrimination-free society based on sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression.
The GomeraArcoíris Network is established as a space for cooperation between the Cabildo, local councils, and community organizations. Its objective is to coordinate actions that promote inclusive public policies adapted to the reality of La Gomera.
Among the main commitments undertaken by the Cabildo are the integration of the LGBTIQA+ perspective into all public policies, the promotion of educational and awareness-raising actions, the training of administrative staff, and support for victims of discrimination or hate crimes. Additionally, efforts will be made to increase the visibility of the collective in the social, cultural, and educational life of the island, creating safe and respectful environments.
The adherence will also allow for the development of joint initiatives, such as awareness campaigns, training sessions, and cultural activities, including the celebration of key dates related to diversity. Institutional coordination will be strengthened through a monitoring commission.
The GomeraArcoíris Network aligns with European, national, and regional regulations on equality and non-discrimination, as well as with the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, particularly regarding the reduction of inequalities and the promotion of inclusive societies.
