The Cabildo of La Gomera, in collaboration with APEDECA, continues to promote the ‘La Gomera Acompaña’ program with new diversity and inclusion workshops aimed at individuals with functional diversity and mental health links.

The initiative seeks to promote social integration, personal autonomy, and the physical and emotional well-being of participants. Funding comes from the insular institution, as part of its policies supporting social welfare and active aging.
Cabildo President Casimiro Curbelo highlighted the importance of continuing these actions to strengthen social care and create participation opportunities. Meanwhile, the insular Minister of Social Policy, Rosa Elena García, praised the variety of proposals designed to develop skills in an inclusive environment, fostering socialization and emotional well-being.
The October program includes workshops on drama therapy (14th and 28th), music (10th, 22nd, and 30th), painting (8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th), and movement and health (7th, 13th, 20th, and 27th). These activities take place at APEDECA facilities in San Sebastián de La Gomera, at Calle Real, number 65.
Notably, the workshop ‘Viajando entre melodías’ (Traveling through Melodies), led by musician Domingo Santos Chávez, artistically known as ‘DoMisax’, will use music as a tool for expression and emotional connection. Sessions for this music workshop are scheduled for October 22nd, November 5th, December 3rd, and December 17th.
The workshops are for adults with functional diversity and/or links to mental health. For more information or to register, interested individuals can contact APEDECA by phone at 692 890 248, via email at tslagomera@apedeca.es, or in person at their offices from 09:00 to 14:00.
