The La Gomera Island Council, through the Insular Water Council, has initiated repair and restoration works on the Alojera Reservoir and the Las Cabecitas Dam, located in Vallehermoso, infrastructures affected by Storm Therese in March.

The insular president, Casimiro Curbelo, recalled that these works are part of a plan to recover hydraulic infrastructures on the island, with a total investment exceeding 5.5 million euros, to address the damage caused by the meteorological phenomenon.
The specific works on the Alojera Reservoir and Las Cabecitas Dam have a budget of over 826 thousand euros. The objective is to repair damage to the waterproofing, restore proper functioning, and improve control and drainage systems affected by precipitation and runoff.
At the Alojera Reservoir, with a capacity of 70 thousand cubic meters, actions will be taken on waterproofing, anchoring elements, the crest, the intake channel, and control systems. The investment in this reservoir exceeds 550 thousand euros and includes the replacement of the waterproofing membrane and the rehabilitation of the channel.
Meanwhile, the Las Cabecitas Dam will receive an investment of over 230 thousand euros. Interventions will focus on repairing the waterproofing membrane, conditioning the technical access track of approximately 285 meters, and improving drainage and evacuation systems affected by erosion and sediment transport.
