The Government of the Canary Islands will organize the 'Conference on High-Enthalpy Geothermal Energy in the Canary Islands. Subsoil Heat, Energy for the Future' at the Espacio Cultural CajaCanarias in Santa Cruz de La Palma. The event aims to position the archipelago in the global debate on geothermal energy, addressing key aspects such as investment and drilling in volcanic environments.
The conference, supported by the Canary Islands Energy Offices, seeks to place the islands at the center of international discussion on a resource with "enormous energy, economic, and scientific potential". Registration is now open, and participation is free of charge.
The event is aimed at public administrations, companies, technical professionals, and citizens interested in advancing towards an energy model that is "cleaner, more self-sufficient, and adapted to the island reality".
The conference will be structured into three thematic blocks: successful geothermal models, economic factors and investment, and the technical challenges of drilling in volcanic environments. Canary Islands professionals responsible for geothermal research permits will participate, along with representatives from ITER and INVOLCAN. International speakers will include experts from Iceland and the Azores, reference volcanic territories in this field.
