The Popular Group in the Cabildo de La Palma, through councillor Nayra Castro, has urged for strengthened communication and coordination with the island's artisan sector, noting a lack of meetings over the past six months.

Castro stated that, despite half a year passing since the new phase began in the Handicraft area, no meetings have been held with various municipal associations or with the artisan professionals themselves. This situation, according to the councillor, prevents a direct understanding of the needs, proposals, and challenges faced by the sector.

"Artisans need to be heard. They are the ones who sustain this sector and who best know its reality. That is why it is essential to hold regular meetings and establish fluid communication."

Furthermore, the Popular Party councillor emphasized the urgency of advancing the organization of the Insular Handicraft Fair, which this year will be held in Tazacorte. She regretted that no meetings have taken place to define crucial aspects such as logistics or the characteristics of the event, considering it a fundamental pillar for the sector that requires prior planning and dialogue.
Castro highlighted that craftsmanship is an essential component of La Palma's cultural identity. She insisted that supporting this sector involves constant proximity, active listening, and collaborative work with its members to ensure sound decisions and actions that truly respond to their demands.

"We are still in time to improve coordination and give the sector the prominence it deserves. Craftsmanship needs closeness, planning, and real commitment to continue growing on our island."
