The Civil Guard has launched an investigation into an individual for the theft of over a thousand metal stakes, valued at 8,000 euros, from a banana plantation in the Aridane Valley, La Palma.

Officers from the Investigation Area of the Main Post of Los Llanos de Aridane have initiated proceedings against a man, who is accused of an alleged theft. The incident, involving over 1,000 agricultural tools, occurred at a banana farm located in the Aridane Valley.
According to information provided by the armed institution, the criminal acts took place continuously over an extended period. The accused, residing in a house adjacent to the affected farm, took advantage of the sharecropper's absence to access the property without raising suspicion or forcing entry. In this manner, he gradually stole over 1,000 metal stakes, which are galvanized iron bars approximately three meters long, essential for supporting banana plants and preventing them from bending or falling due to the weight of the bunches.
Following a complaint filed by the property owner, Civil Guard agents conducted various inquiries that revealed the suspect had sold the stolen tools on the second-hand market. He offered them to other banana farmers at a lower-than-usual price. Thanks to these investigations, 600 stakes were located and recovered from banana farms in the municipality of Tazacorte. These materials have been placed in custody pending the resolution of the corresponding judicial proceedings.
The instructed proceedings related to this case have been forwarded to the Court of First Instance of Los Llanos de Aridane for processing.
