The rescue vessel Salvamar Acrux picked up the occupants of an inflatable boat in apparently good condition around ten o'clock on Friday night. One of the vessels transiting the area, the Anemos, had previously spotted the boat and provided escort at the request of Salvamento Marítimo coordinators.
The initial sighting occurred on Friday afternoon, when personnel from the Spanish Air Rescue Service (SAR) alerted the provincial center of Salvamento Marítimo in Las Palmas about the position of the inflatable boat, which was heading towards the Canary Islands.
“"We are committed to ensuring the safety of all individuals navigating in Canarian waters."
After being brought aboard the Salvamar Acrux around 10:30 PM, the migrants were disembarked in Lanzarote at 1:22 AM on Saturday, as detailed by sources from the state company.
