Climate and citizen safety have solidified as the main draws for tourists visiting Lanzarote and La Graciosa during the first quarter of 2026, according to a Cabildo report.

Favorable climatic conditions and the perception of safety on the islands were the determining factors for travelers choosing their destination. The general tranquility and the quality of the accommodation on offer also played a significant role in this decision.
Conversely, commercial offerings and nightlife ranked as the least influential elements among the twenty main options considered by travelers. Factors such as being in Europe, price levels, ease of travel, abundant coastline, environmental setting, and landscape occupy intermediate positions in the preference scale.
The report from the Cabildo's Data Center also reveals that the majority of tourists, over 58%, planned their trip to Lanzarote and La Graciosa at least three months in advance. Only about 18% of visitors made their travel decision at the last minute, meaning less than a month before their trip.
Familiarity with the Canary archipelago remains an important factor, as two out of every three travelers visiting the islands between January and March had previously vacationed in another Canary Island destination. Regarding accommodation, there was nearly equal usage between hotels and non-hotel establishments, with bed and breakfast stays being frequent. The overall satisfaction rating for stays reached a notable 8.8 out of 10.
