The team from Gran Canaria, Heidelberg Volkswagen, saw its reign in the top tier of Spanish women's volleyball come to an end after an intense tie-break match. The scores of the decisive game were 21-25, 25-21, 25-22, 21-25, and 15-9, in a clash that went down to the wire.
The Gran Canaria team started the match strongly, with a notable serving rotation from one of its players. However, the home team managed to recover and make the game difficult, although Heidelberg maintained its lead thanks to the offensive contributions of another key player. Despite Fundación Cajasol Andalucía's efforts to close the gap, the solidity of the Gran Canaria team at the net allowed them to win the first set.
After a perfect start, Heidelberg Volkswagen struggled in the second set, but their resilience helped them reduce the deficit. The third set was extremely close, with continuous exchanges between both teams. Although the Gran Canaria team showed efficiency at times, a series of errors ultimately cost them the set.
Despite the setbacks, the Heidelberg players withstood the pressure at the Pabellón Los Montecillos. An outstanding serving rotation from one of their attackers led to a partial score that allowed them to take the fourth set. However, in the fifth and final set, several errors from the visiting team gave the advantage to the Andalusian side, who ultimately claimed the title, preventing Heidelberg Volkswagen from revalidating their championship.
