The Santa María la Real Foundation has launched a new edition of Entrena Empleo Rural (Rural Training Employment), a free job orientation program aimed at unemployed women residing in rural areas. The initiative, which will run between 2026 and 2027, seeks to enhance access to the labor market through training, personalized support, and the use of digital tools.
Lanzarote will be one of the program's locations, planning to assist approximately 300 women across Spain. The registration process for participants on the island will be open throughout June, allowing them to join small groups for more personalized attention. The program is open to women over 18, regardless of their educational level or prior experience, with a special focus on long-term unemployed individuals or those who have interrupted their careers for family reasons.
The methodology will be blended, combining in-person sessions with virtual meetings. Participants will receive guidance to redefine professional goals, update their resumes, and improve digital and transversal skills. Job interview simulations, employability mapping, and company visits will be conducted to facilitate connections with real hiring opportunities.
A distinctive feature of the program is the recognition of skills acquired during family caregiving, such as time management and organization, translating them into professional competencies. Additionally, brief "speed dating" style job encounters will be organized to facilitate direct contact between companies and candidates.
The previous edition of the program, held between 2024 and 2025, involved nearly 300 women, over 90 of whom improved their employment situation. The project is funded by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) and Fundación MAPFRE, and in Lanzarote, it is developed in collaboration with the Cabildo de Lanzarote.
