The Lanzarote Insular Veterans Football League officially begins its 2026/2027 season this Monday, organized by the Conejero Veterans Football Association (AFUVECO), featuring 29 teams and the new addition of three categories.

The 2026/2027 veteran football season in Lanzarote officially kicks off this Monday with the first matchday of the Insular Veterans Football League. The competition, organized by the Conejero Veterans Football Association (AFUVECO), introduces significant novelties such as the creation of three categories and the return of the Lanzarote Veterans Football Cup. A total of 29 teams have confirmed their participation in this campaign, which will run until June.
The Lanzarote Veterans Football Association, in agreement with the participating clubs, has decided to establish three categories based on last season's final standings. This measure aims to equalize the competition, reducing disparities between teams and ensuring they can compete head-to-head in each scheduled match.
The Superliga will include San Bartolomé, Playa Honda, CD Teguise, La Asomada, VR Sport, Santa María La Vega, CD Vetias, Guatiza, Unión Sur Yaiza, and CD Arrecife. The top four classified teams will compete in a play-off for the title at the end of the regular phase. The bottom two teams will be relegated, and the eighth-placed team will play in a play-off to avoid relegation.
In the Preferente category, this season's participants are 8 Islas Canarias, FC Conil, Mancha Blanca Juanvi, GR Playa Blanca, CD Tite, Restaurante Leito de Proa, Tiense Club, UD Palmeiros Costa Teguise, Inter Playa Honda, and ADC Masdache. The champion of the regular phase will earn promotion to the Superliga, and teams ranked from second to fifth will compete in the promotion play-off. The bottom two teams will be relegated, with the eighth-placed team entering a play-off to avoid relegation.
The Primera Categoría will feature a total of nine teams: Amigos Latinos VF, CD Lomo, CD Cruce Surf, CD Tinache, ACD Haría Veteranos, Campos de Lanzarote, CD Tinajo, Puerto del Carmen, and El Charcón. The champion of the regular phase will be promoted to the Primera Categoría, and teams ranked from second to fifth will compete in the promotion play-off.
The Veterans Football Cup is being revived for the 2026/2027 season, having not been held last campaign due to a congested calendar. All 29 registered teams will enter the draw for the first round, and as a novelty, eliminated teams will continue to compete in a consolation tournament.
The first matchday of the Lanzarote Insular Veterans Football League will extend until next Wednesday, marking the beginning of eight months of exciting competition for the island's veteran footballers.
