The police operation took place on Monday morning at Martorell beach, located in the municipality of Gáldar. Those involved were intercepted while attempting to unload approximately 3,000 kilograms of hashish from a drug boat.
Sources from the National Police confirmed that the investigation, which is currently under judicial secrecy, unfolded in the town of Sardina del Norte. Officers pursued the semi-rigid vessel, which was carrying eight individuals and numerous bales, from the vicinity of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
During the pursuit, police officers fired warning shots into the air in an attempt to get the crew to stop the boat. Finally, the vessel reached the Gáldar beach, where an established police operation, with the participation of the Local Police and the Civil Guard, thwarted the smuggling attempt.
Initial data confirmed by authorities indicates that almost 3,000 kilograms of hashish, distributed in over 90 bales, were seized, pending further details from the ongoing investigation into this significant blow to drug trafficking.
