This initiative, which seeks to address housing needs in the municipality, focuses on building 7 units in Caideros, 52 in El Roque, and 63 in Sardina. The necessary land for these developments has been transferred to the Canarian Housing Institute for its execution.
“"This is great news for the citizens of Gáldar as these homes will be available to vulnerable families in the municipality."
The Caideros project is the most advanced, with the expectation that the seven homes will be allocated before July, provided the established deadlines are met. In El Roque, the construction of the 52 homes is supported by European funds and financing from the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, with works expected to commence before December 31st of this year, following the completion of urban development tasks on the plot.
The third development, located in Lomo de la Cal, in the Sardina de Gáldar neighborhood, will also receive funding from the Cabildo de Gran Canaria. It has been reported that the urbanization of this area, which will house 63 homes, will begin shortly.
Additionally, the Gáldar City Council recently acquired 70,000 square meters of land from the Asset Management Company from Bank Restructuring (Sareb). This purchase, valued at 163,000 euros, includes 20 plots, 19 of which are in Paseo de Los Guanartemes and one in Playa Canaria. These lands could be designated for future housing developments or the creation of complementary infrastructures, such as parking for the health center or educational facilities, depending on municipal needs and planning.
