The City Council of Gáldar and the Canarian Housing Institute have reviewed the progress of 122 new public housing units, distributed across the neighborhoods of Caideros, El Roque, and Sardina.

Representatives from the local council and the Canarian Housing Institute recently met to assess the status of housing projects. These initiatives aim to provide homes for vulnerable families in the municipality.

"The City Council has made these plots available to ICAVI, and it is great news for the citizens of Gáldar as they will be available to vulnerable families in the municipality."

The most advanced development is in Caideros, where the seven homes are expected to be allocated before July. In El Roque, a project funded by European funds and the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, the 52 homes must begin construction before December 31st of this year, after completing the urbanization work on the plot.
The third development, located in Lomo de la Cal, in the Sardina neighborhood, will soon begin the construction of its urbanization thanks to financial support from the Cabildo de Gran Canaria.
Additionally, the City Council has recently acquired 70,000 square meters of land, owned by the Society for the Management of Assets from Bank Restructuring (Sareb). These lands, valued at 163,000 euros and distributed across 20 plots (19 in Paseo de Los Guanartemes and one in Playa Canaria), will also be used for complementary purposes such as parking areas for the health center or educational facilities.
