The initiative aims to bring to citizens the value and fragility of the island's endangered flora. The program of activities will allow participants to learn about some of the endemic plants present in Gáldar's Protected Natural Spaces, species that are subject to various Recovery Plans. It seeks to reveal the uniqueness of Gran Canaria's flora, the main threats it faces, and the work being done for its conservation and recovery.
The campaign will begin with a traveling exhibition at the Plaza de Santiago, from September 14 to 27, providing information on the island's plant heritage. Subsequently, on Wednesday, September 23, at 6:00 PM, a free educational talk will be held in the Sala del Sábor of the Consistorial Houses.
On Saturday, September 26, an interpretive route will take place through the Natural Monument of Montaña de Amagro. This activity will offer an opportunity to learn firsthand about the natural values of this space and the endangered plant species that are part of Gáldar's natural heritage.
The goal of this campaign is to disseminate scientific knowledge, foster awareness, and promote citizen participation in the conservation of Gran Canaria's flora. It is believed that knowing the natural heritage is the first step towards valuing and protecting it.
