The intervention, which has a budget of 254,486 euros from the Council's Neighborhood Plan, seeks to restore this emblematic property as a permanent tribute to the renowned Gáldar artist Juan Borges Linares and make it available for artistic training.
Promoted by the Department of Tourism, based on the project by the Department of Urban Planning, the action includes the renovation and expansion of the historic residence, located at Calle Santiago Machín number 10, to turn it into a cultural facility.
The proposal will respect the simplicity of the facade and part of the original layout, incorporating informative panels about the sculptor's life and work. Additionally, a sculpture workshop will be established for artistic training and creation.
The future school is conceived with the aim of being a local cultural facility, intended for neighborhood use and capable of becoming a regional benchmark in sculpture education. The intervention will also allow for the renovation of the structure and facilities of a property that is currently in a significant state of disrepair, adapting it to its new cultural and educational purpose.
