The Plenary of the Tijarafe City Council approved a motion by the PSOE, with PP support, to defend the municipality's territorial integrity and Amagar's belonging.

The Tijarafe City Council approved a motion presented by the Socialist Municipal Group on Monday, June 8, defending the municipality's territorial integrity and Amagar's belonging to Tijarafe. The initiative arose after it became public that, within the framework of the new General Urban Planning Plan of Los Llanos de Aridane, a definition of municipal boundaries had been proposed, with Amagar appearing in a cartographic representation within the Llanense municipal term.
The motion passed thanks to the absolute majority of the plenary, receiving 6 favorable votes from the PSOE and the Partido Popular, against 5 votes against from Coalición Canaria. During the debate, the Socialist Group accepted an amendment from the Partido Popular to reinforce institutional consensus on this issue, considering it above political differences.
With this approval, the Tijarafe Plenary sends a clear institutional message in defense of Amagar and territorial integrity, reaffirming the Corporation's commitment against any attempt to question the current municipal boundaries.

"We want to thank the Partido Popular for acting with responsibility and foresight, supporting a clear institutional position in defense of Amagar and the territorial integrity of Tijarafe. Some issues must be above political differences, and this is one of them."

Socialist Group
The PSOE has expressed surprise at Coalición Canaria's opposing vote, given that the motion defended a historical position of the Tijarafe City Council regarding Amagar. The socialists regret the lack of unanimity in the Corporation to defend the municipality's interests.

"We find it hard to understand that Coalición Canaria voted against a motion that, after the incorporated amendment, was limited to reaffirming the Corporation's commitment to defending the municipality's territorial integrity."

PSOE
The socialist spokesperson, Alejandro Rocha, emphasized that the approved motion reaffirms the institutional commitment of the Tijarafe City Council to the defense of Amagar and the municipality's territorial integrity, conveying a firm stance against any questioning of current municipal boundaries. He added that the defense of Amagar and the municipality's territorial integrity admits no doubts or ambiguities, regretting that Coalición Canaria did not join the initiative for unity for Tijarafe.
