The former mayor of La Oliva, Domingo González Arroyo, aged 86, voluntarily entered prison this week after a court order for a fiscal offense.

The politician from Fuerteventura, popularly known as "the Marquis", complied with the order from the Court of Puerto del Rosario and presented himself this Monday, June 22, at the Ángel Guerra Social Insertion Center. This facility, adjacent to the prison in Tahiche, Lanzarote, is designated for inmates not considered common criminals.
Throughout his terms leading the City Council of La Oliva, González Arroyo faced numerous complaints, cases, and trials. However, until now, he had always managed to avoid sentences that would involve imprisonment.
