The incident occurred on August 11, 2026, at 2:59 PM, when the Emergency and Safety Coordination Center (CECOES) 112 of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert. Several bathers had pulled a man from the water showing clear signs of drowning.
Following the call classification, various emergency services were activated. The Canary Emergency Service (SUC) dispatched a medicalized helicopter, two basic life support ambulances, and the primary care medical team from the health center of La Graciosa. Firefighters from the Consortium of Security and Emergencies of Lanzarote-La Graciosa also responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, healthcare personnel assessed the affected individual, a 55-year-old man presenting with moderate incomplete drowning symptoms. He was transferred by the SUC's medicalized helicopter to César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport.
At the airport, a basic life support ambulance awaited the patient for subsequent transfer to Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital. Firefighters assisted by securing the helicopter's landing zone on the beach.
