The resolution, which still requires a ten-business-day period for objections after its publication, excluded two of the 26 applications submitted for failing to meet the minimum requirement of 20 users stipulated in the guidelines. The criteria for distributing these grants consider factors such as the number of licenses, the entities' history, staff qualifications, competing categories, facility rental costs, and the promotion of adapted sports.
Mayor Olivia Duque described these subsidies as a "direct support to the municipality's sports fabric," emphasizing that they acknowledge the efforts of "families, athletes, coaches, boards, and many hours of volunteer work" that enable the growth of local clubs and schools.
For his part, the Councilor for Sports, Alejandro Ramírez, highlighted the "richness of sports in Teguise" and the "important work" carried out by the clubs. He stressed the goal of continuing to support these entities to cover their operational expenses and encourage more residents to participate in sports within the municipality.
Initially, a budget of 400,000 euros had been allocated for these subsidies.
