The celebrations in honor of Nuestra Señora de Las Nieves, the historical patron saint of Lanzarote, once again bring together a varied program of events in the municipalities of Teguise and Haría. The festivities, which combine religious devotion, popular traditions, and cultural activities, will extend until August 5th.
In Teguise, the program began on July 29th with tournaments and the opening speech by Santiago Ramírez Curbelo. The weekend focuses on the traditional pilgrimage to the Hermitage of Las Nieves on Saturday, August 1st, followed by an offering to the Virgin and a night of parrandas with performances by groups such as Los Gurfines Son los del Puerto and Son del Norte. The main festivity, on August 5th, will include solemn acts such as the Religious Service and the procession with the image of the Virgin, accompanied by the municipal band Teguiband.
For its part, Haría is celebrating its patron saint festivals with a program that includes sports, cultural, and family activities. Friday, July 31st, featured the Ronda Championship, a traditional Adult Playback show, and a karaoke session. This Saturday, August 1st, Haría's Plaza hosts a popular meal organized by the Asociación Cultural y Folclórica VivHaría, accompanied by performances from Lagar de Teseguite and Malpeis. Participation in the meal costs 10 euros.
Haría's program also includes family activities on Sunday, August 2nd, with water inflatables and children's games, as well as an exhibition by the Emerlan rescue teams. The festivals will conclude on Wednesday, August 5th, with the traditional pilgrimage to the Hermitage of Las Nieves, departing at 7:30 AM from Plaza de la Constitución.
Both town councils emphasize the importance of these celebrations in keeping local traditions alive and strengthening the municipality's identity, offering activities for residents and visitors of all ages.
