The commemorative event took place this Wednesday in the municipality of Teguise, Lanzarote, and was presided over by the colonel chief of the Las Palmas Command, accompanied by the government sub-delegate. It was attended by the mayor of Teguise, the president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, the island's insular director, and the defense delegate in Las Palmas.
The ceremony began at 10:00 AM with the arrival of the authorities, followed by the reading of the corps' Founding Decree. During the military event, seven decorations for Civil Guard Merit with a white distinction and one Cross of Military Merit were awarded. Additionally, an honorary mention was given to a local police officer from Teguise for his dedication in La Graciosa, and the careers of three civil guards were recognized with diplomas.

In his speech, the colonel chief of the Las Palmas Command highlighted the significance of celebrating this anniversary in Teguise, emphasizing the Civil Guard's historical presence in Lanzarote since 1923 and the values guiding the institution, such as sacrifice, loyalty, and discipline. The daily commitment of the agents and their adaptability to societal needs were also praised.
The event included an exhibition of resources to bring the institution's work closer to Canarian society, allowing attendees to learn about the specialties and operational equipment. The celebration concluded with a heartfelt tribute to fallen colleagues and a special thanks to the attending schools, reaffirming the Civil Guard's commitment to citizens.
