The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow alert for Wednesday in the summits and the eastern, southern, and western areas of Gran Canaria. Temperatures are predicted to reach a maximum of 35 degrees Celsius between 11:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
Aemet's forecast focuses on these regions of Gran Canaria, indicating a temperature rise, particularly significant in midlands and summits, especially affecting the Tejeda basin and the southern and western midlands.
Additionally, dust haze is expected at higher altitudes, impacting the summits from midday on Wednesday.
Temperatures will continue to climb on Thursday. Aemet's alert will become orange in the east, south, and west of Gran Canaria, remaining yellow for the summits. The alert hours will continue to be from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
In these areas, highs of 37 degrees are forecast, with the possibility of locally reaching 39 degrees, especially in the southeastern and western midlands. For the summits, temperatures are expected to rise to 35 degrees, potentially reaching 37 degrees locally in the Tejeda basin.
