The City Council of La Aldea de San Nicolás will directly manage the 188,400 euro subsidy from the Cabildo for the purchase of two museum houses, reaffirming the principle that "public money is invested in public assets".

The Councilor for Historical Heritage of La Aldea de San Nicolás, Ingrid Navarro, has clarified that the subsidy granted by the Cabildo for the acquisition of two properties with educational value, intended to house living museums, will be managed directly by the council. The Fundación Canaria Proyecto Comunitario de La Aldea, the organization that manages these facilities, had advocated for the aid to be granted directly to them to expedite the process.
The subsidy amounts to 188,400 euros and is intended for the purchase of two houses: the Venturita house, which hosts the living museums of Music, Shoemaking, and Carpentry, and the Dominguito Armas Navarro house, home to the Medicine and Barber museums. The councilor emphasized the importance that "public money must be invested in public assets, regardless of who is in government".
Navarro indicated that, once the properties are acquired, formulas will be sought for the foundation to continue its work in defending the municipality's heritage. She recalled that other heritage assets, such as the flour mills, have already been ceded to the foundation until 2027. She assured that the foundation has the administration and herself as "its greatest and most loyal defender, as long as public money remains in public hands".
