The Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Government of Canarias has confirmed the start of paving work on the Paredes-Alajeró-Airport road, in La Gomera, by the end of April, a project awaited since 2021.

The General Directorate of Road Infrastructure, under the direction of Rosana Melián, has announced that paving will be carried out in various sections of this important island road. This action comes after the General Directorate has repeatedly urged the awarded UTE to comply with the execution schedule to avoid further delays in the project.
Specific areas where the work will take place include La Roseta, Antóncojo, and the Alajeró bypass. These works are part of an updated work program, which seeks to significantly improve traffic conditions and road safety on an axis considered strategic for the island's connectivity.

The start of paving marks a significant advance in the execution of this road infrastructure, allowing for improved traffic conditions, enhanced road safety, and optimized connectivity on this strategic axis for mobility on the island.

The Ministry maintains constant monitoring of the work, analyzing the planning presented by the company and ensuring that the project's development adheres to established technical and administrative criteria. This announcement coincides with a citizen protest called for Thursday, April 16, at Curva de Targa, against the prolonged delays of these works, which began in 2021.
