The San Sebastián de La Gomera City Council has put out to tender the rehabilitation project for the former La Inmaculada residence, with a budget of 534,999.99 euros and an execution period of 12 months.

The objective is to transform the property into a multipurpose building that will house the new headquarters of the Municipal Library, as well as space for various non-profit municipal groups and associations. The deadline for submitting bids is September 3, 2026.
The mayor, Angélica Padilla, highlighted that the project will provide a new headquarters for the Municipal Library, offering greater space, light, and accessibility. The second floor will feature eight independent offices for associations related to health, culture, and social policies, while the ground floor will house the Municipal Library, with areas for a general library, children's library, study rooms, computer facilities, and an archive.
Padilla emphasized the central location of the former residence, recalling that the current library occupies a rented space that no longer meets the service's needs. The new building will offer spacious, modern work and reading rooms with natural light and full accessibility.
The project includes a comprehensive renovation of the facilities, such as the electrical system, fire protection system, air conditioning, and ventilation. Bathrooms will also be adapted, with plumbing and sanitation work to adjust the premises for new activities and improve comfort.
