The program aims to reinforce the value of traditions, folklore, and popular religiosity. Mayoress Angélica Padilla emphasized the importance of keeping traditions alive for new generations, stating that the festivals celebrate what represents and makes the Gomera society proud.
Festival Councilor Aday Herrera detailed that special care was taken to design a varied and interesting offer for all ages and audiences, combining sports, cultural, family, and religious activities. Free transportation will be provided to attend the Eucharist and procession in Puntallana on October 5th, with reinforced departures from the Bus Station.
In the cultural sphere, the festivals begin on October 1st with the presentation of the book “Gomer@s. Apuntes biográficos de la isla de La Gomera,” by Roberto Padrón. On October 2nd, the V Félix Casanova de Ayala Literary Contest jury resolution will be announced, followed by a conference by Carlos Benítez Izquierdo on the 120th anniversary of Alfonso XIII's visit. On October 7th, a guided tour of the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption will take place.
The musical program includes a concert by the Music School Band and Emilio Negrín on October 2nd, the Craftsmanship Exhibition with the parranda Chigadá y Tendal on October 3rd, and the VII Virgen de Guadalupe Folk Festival on October 4th at the Torre del Conde Park Amphitheater. The musical closing will be on October 9th with the performance of “Vocal Sampling”.
In sports, the Canary Islands Sim Racing La Gomera Championship will be held on September 26th. On October 3rd, the Isla de La Gomera Cycling Tour, the Envite Tournament final, and the XXVIII Puntallana Popular Cross will take place. The Garajonay Ornithological Association's Canary Breeding exhibition is also scheduled, and the XXVI Puntallana Open Water Swim will be held on November 14th.
Religious ceremonies include the Eucharist and procession in honor of the Virgen del Rosario on Saturday, October 3rd. In Puntallana, Eucharists will be held on October 4th and 5th. On October 11th, the procession in honor of the Virgen de la Salud will take place in Las Nieves.
