The tender, managed by the General Directorate of Economic Resources of the Canarian Health Service (SCS), includes a significant investment to renovate the building's exterior. The deadline for submitting bids is October 19, and the works are expected to take 21 months to complete.
The rehabilitation project will focus on improving the current cladding by incorporating a ventilated facade. This element will not only provide a new external protection layer but will also enhance thermal insulation and user comfort, contributing to the building's overall energy efficiency.
These actions address the progressive deterioration of the facade over the years, affected by weather conditions and the natural aging of its materials.
The Traumatology building, with a constructed area of 25,334 square meters spread across fourteen levels, houses healthcare, research, and administrative services. Among the healthcare areas are specialties such as Allergology, Medical Oncology, Traumatology, Rehabilitation, General and Digestive Surgery, the Pain Unit, and Cognitive Oncological Neurosurgery, among others. These units handle over 114,000 annual consultations and more than 71,000 rehabilitation treatments.
Non-healthcare areas include the Management, Medical and Nursing Directorates, Economic Management, Human Resources, Legal Counsel, and other general services and occupational risk prevention units.
