The Agüimes Carnival of 2027 now has a defined theme: 'Agüimes: Lights, Camera… Carnival!', an allegory inspired by the world of entertainment that was selected through a popular voting process.

The proposal, which evokes the glamour and magic of show business, garnered 45.4% of the votes cast by citizens. This result positions it as the preferred option to guide the celebration of one of the municipality's most emblematic festivities.
In second place, with 33% of the votes, was 'Agüimes: The Great Party of the 20s', a theme that sought to recreate the aesthetics and atmosphere of the 1920s. The third option, 'Agüimes: The Formula of Carnival', inspired by the scientific field, received 21.6% of the votes.
The voting process took place between May 5 and May 10 via the online platform Ferendum. This tool was enabled by the Festivities Department of the Agüimes City Council with the aim of encouraging citizen participation in choosing the central motif of the festivities.
The three finalist allegories were pre-selected after a meeting between the municipal Festivities department and various local groups linked to the carnival. The main objective of this initiative was to involve the community in defining the spirit that will characterize one of Agüimes' most deeply rooted and popular celebrations.
The Agüimes Carnival of 2027 is scheduled to take place from January 31 to February 21, promising to once again transform the municipality's streets into a vibrant stage of creativity, humor, music, and collective participation.
