The Civil Guard has arrested an individual in Santa Lucía de Tirajana for stealing a vehicle and a reckless escape that endangered pedestrians and drivers, culminating in a collision with parked cars.

The events occurred in early August, when citizens alerted the Civil Guard in Vecindario about a car driving extremely dangerously through residential streets, performing reckless maneuvers and nearly hitting pedestrians.
Initially, officers located the car parked without it being reported stolen or having any outstanding warrants. Shortly after, a patrol found it driving at high speed. Upon noticing the police presence, the driver ignored signals and fled through several streets.
During the pursuit, the individual disregarded traffic signals, entered oncoming lanes, and executed high-risk maneuvers, nearly running over several minors near a street.
The chase ended when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with several parked cars, causing significant material damage. After the accident, he attempted to escape on foot but was intercepted by officers, resisting arrest.
Subsequent investigations confirmed that the car had been stolen hours earlier in a residential area of the municipality. It was also verified that the detainee had never obtained a driving license.
The Civil Guard attributes charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, driving without a license, reckless driving, property damage, and disobedience and resistance to authority. The proceedings have been sent to the Court of Instruction in San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
