IES Ingenio successfully hosted the fifth edition of its Career Fair, a well-established event connecting students with educational and professional opportunities, providing tools for their future.

The event, held this Friday, has become a crucial meeting point for academic and professional guidance for young people. Its main objective was to introduce students to the various training and employment options available, facilitating informed decision-making about their future careers.
The fair saw extensive participation from various Vocational Training centers, including CIFP Telde, which presented its Aquaculture programs, IES Faro de Maspalomas with Hospitality, Tourism, and Personal Image, and CIFP Felo Monzón Grau-Bassas, specializing in Image and Sound. IES Ingenio itself also showcased its training specialties in Installation and Maintenance, Electricity and Electronics, Transport and Vehicle Maintenance, Administration and Management, Art Baccalaureate, and Vocational Guidance (FOL), alongside the presence of the Official Language School.
In addition to the educational offerings, the fair included spaces dedicated to entrepreneurship and innovation, with prominent companies from the Canarian business sector sharing their experiences. Food and beverage producers and distributors, along with the Spanish Army, broadened the range of professional possibilities presented.
As is tradition, a significant space was dedicated to traditional crafts and local artistry, highlighting calado (Canarian lace) as a representative element of cultural heritage. This section featured collaborations with Coros y Danzas de Ingenio and the Asociación de Caladoras, as well as Panadería Artesanal Amaro, strengthening the link between tradition and local identity.

"These types of gatherings are more than necessary for young people to learn about the diversity of existing professions."

Sebastián Suárez · Councillor for Education
The initiative attracted students from other nearby educational centers, such as IES Carrizal, IES Joaquín Artiles, and IES Valsequillo. It received support from the Ingenio Town Council and the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, with representatives from both administrations in attendance.

"A necessary encounter to show the reality of the job market to so many young people, and for them to see, firsthand, what they can expect when they finish their studies."

Vanesa Martín · Mayor of Ingenio
The deputy director of IES Ingenio, Fina Santana Artiles, emphasized the importance for students to explore diverse professional paths beyond university, including vocational training programs that are increasingly developed. Meanwhile, the Director of Culture for the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Serafín Sánchez, highlighted the project's evolution and its role in connecting young people with professional realities and in recovering intangible heritage.
