The initiative aims to keep alive the memory of a trade that was fundamental to the daily lives of many families in the southeast region, shaping the social and economic development of the area.
The program has featured various cultural offerings, including a photographic exhibition and traditional music with popular songs, which have helped recreate the atmosphere of that era.
One of the significant moments was the theatrical representation of tomato packing by the group Armando Gopar, which brought to the audience the experiences and customs associated with this trade, evoking many memories among attendees.
The program also highlighted the neighborhood's deep devotion to the Virgen del Carmen. The collective, along with the Commission of Fiestas del Pilar, emphasized the restoration of a new image and the aspiration to establish a packing museum in the area.
Through this initiative, the Folkloric Group Las Mahoreras seeks to value the history and traditions of those who made tomato packing more than just a job, but a way of life that remains strongly present in the memory of the Las Majoreras neighborhood.
