The Museum of History of Agüimes hosts until August 7 the photographic exhibition ‘Masculinity’, by Lethy Hernández, inviting men of different generations to express their emotions and break stereotypes.

The exhibition hall of the Museum of History of Agüimes will host until August 7 the photographic exhibition ‘Masculinity’, by photographer Lethy Hernández. Promoted in collaboration with the Association of United Women of the World (AMUM), the exhibition can be visited from Tuesday to Saturday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The exhibition aims to create a space for expression for men and to question stereotypes that associate masculinity with emotional strength, silence, or a lack of vulnerability. The exhibition features portraits of men of various ages who shared part of their personal history. Each image is accompanied by a text written by the protagonist himself, expressing his feelings, concerns, and experiences.
Lethy Hernández notes that one of the challenges was convincing participants to show their more vulnerable side, reflecting the weight of traditional masculinity models. The author hopes the initiative will encourage other men to share their experiences and normalize the expression of feelings as part of emotional well-being.
The initiative also highlights the stigma surrounding mental health, encouraging men to seek professional help. The exhibition is promoted by AMUM, a non-profit organization founded by migrant women in Gran Canaria focused on sociocultural integration, equal rights, and female empowerment.
