This event, part of the municipal initiative 'Ingenio moves', aims to be a space for dialogue and reflection on the challenges and opportunities presented by pedestrian, cycling, and micromobility in municipalities. Key aspects such as road safety, coexistence between different modes of transport, and the balanced distribution of public space will be discussed.
The goal is to share experiences and propose solutions for streets that are more accessible, sustainable, and people-centered. The opening of the event will feature Vanesa Martín Herrera, mayor of Ingenio; María Fernández Pérez, Director General of Transport for the Government of the Canary Islands; Teodoro Sosa Monzón, Minister of Mobility for the Cabildo of Gran Canaria; and Óliver Navarro Guerra, Councilor for Mobility and Transport of the Ingenio City Council.
The roundtable will bring together professionals and individuals involved in mobility and physical and sports activities. Participants include Belén Calahorro, coordinator of Eurovelo Spain and the ConBici Technical Office; Silvia Casorrán, expert in sustainable urban mobility for the Network of Cities for Bicycles; Ana Montalbán, director of the Network of Cities that Walk; Alba Albadalejo, athlete from Ingenio and Spanish XCO champion; and Heriberto Dávila, director of the Green Islands Foundation.
The 'Ingenio moves' activities, promoted by the Department of Mobility and Transport, began on Monday, September 14. They include the 'Cole en Ruta: Ingenio en Bici' project in educational centers, a cycling ride on September 22 for World Car-Free Day, and the presentation of the 'Metrominutos' for Ingenio and El Carrizal on the morning of September 23, prior to the roundtable discussion.
