The town of Santa Lucía de Tirajana now has a new semi-rapid charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, located at Mercacentro in Vecindario. This new point offers a power of 22 kilowatts and features a double Type 2 socket, enabling the simultaneous charging of up to two vehicles.
The presentation of this initiative was attended by the mayor, Francisco García, accompanied by the Minister of Environment, Climate, Energy, and Knowledge of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Raúl García Brink, and the councilors for Mobility, Francisco Guedes, and Sustainability, Mario Bordón. This project is part of the strategy promoted by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria to expand the island's public electric mobility network.
Mayor Francisco García expressed his gratitude to the island corporation for its continued support of Santa Lucía, emphasizing that this measure reinforces the commitment of the city council and the Mancomunidad del Sureste to the implementation of renewable energies. He also recalled other municipal measures, such as the IBI tax bonus for homes with photovoltaic panels.
For his part, Minister Raúl García Brink highlighted the importance of this third charging point, which complements the 50-kilowatt fast charger at the fairgrounds and another 22-kilowatt point in the town center. He noted that this new installation represents a significant advancement for electric mobility in the southeastern region, bringing these infrastructures closer to the citizens of Vecindario.
García Brink also mentioned the Cabildo's objective to establish an island public network with 100 operational charging points managed directly in Gran Canaria.
